Throughout history, bells have served various purposes—accompanying dances, offering comfort, and alerting people to potential danger. The Chinese were pioneers in controlling the pitch of bells, allowing them to create melodies. Over time, bells became an integral part of religious rituals. For instance, on New Year's Eve, Buddhist temples ring their bells 108 times, each toll symbolizing one of the 108 worldly desires.
